Buffalo Soldiers outlast the Puerto Rico Boricuas 6-3.



It was an exciting Clash Between Puerto Rico and Jamaica in the Challenger Series as the the men's national hockey teams of Puerto Rico and Jamaica engaged in a highly anticipated matchup.. Both teams were eager to secure a victory, showcasing their best talents and strategies in a bid to excel in the tournament.



The game began with a quick goal from Jamaica, as Silverstien found the net at 3:56 in the 1st period, supported by assists from Sellers and McGowan. Puerto Rico swiftly responded with a goal from Cruz Jr. at 17:41, assisted by Rosello and Templeton, ending the period with an even score of 1-1.


The 2nd period witnessed intense action, with Jamaica scoring quick goals. Mitton scored for Jamaica at at 15:40, followed by a lightning quick power play goal from Jordan at 14:29, (assisted by Chevers and Sellers). Jamaica used the momentum as Jordan added two more goals, supported by Silverstien and Grant at 8:43 and 8:32 respectively. Despite Jamaica's strong blitz, Puerto Rico remained competitive with a physical resiliant brand of hockey that has become a hallmark for the Boricua side. Santiago scored at 3:37, concluding the period and giving the Puerto Ricans a ray of hope entering the third period with Jamaica hanging on to a 5-2 lead.



In the 3rd period, Puerto Ricans fought back, with team Captain Ricky Rodriguez setting the tone scoring at 16:25. However, the momentum shifted quickly again as Jamaica maintained their lead with strong team play. Chevers would break through scoring an unassisted goal at 13:39, sealing the game and securing a 6-3 victory for the Buffalo Soldiers.


Despite the loss, Puerto Rico showed resilience, demonstrating their potential in future clashes. Jamaica, also displayed strong teamwork and determination, setting a positive tone for their upcoming games in the Challenger Series.


The match between Puerto Rico and Jamaica highlighted the competitive spirit and talent present in the Challenger Series, promising exciting matchups and fierce competition as the tournament progresses.
